Marketing, whether it’s digital, on paper or face-to-face, is in my blood. I’m a natural promoter — and technology has become a faithful friend in those efforts. The interwebs feeds my need to communicate. I live for networking and bringing people together, both online and off.

Initially, I fell in love with integrating technology into the classroom as a secondary teacher. I used classroom websites for my students, launching my techie tendencies. I have developed expertise in email marketing, email deliverability and HTML email design and function. I’ve been responsible for creating and promoting an online bookstore’s web presence, creating email marketing campaigns, designing web banners, working with affiliates and using Google Adwords. I also put together a few basic websites.

I discovered the power of social media when I started planning my 20-year high school reunion.

For the last 2.5 years, I’ve been learning the art of selling cars at large car dealership in West Michigan. I enjoy working with my individual customers and have applied my marketing skills to promote myself. However, I feel the dealership is missing my talents to reach out to all of its customer base, as well as potential customers.

Prior to taking my position in car sales, I was the communications director for a high-volume, multi-brand car dealership in Northern Michigan. In this Web 2.0 communications role, I incorporated online tools and in-person networking to create relationships and ultimately build the company’s brand, both online and off. When given the opportunity, I acted as the voice of the company externally as well as the voice of the community internally. As directed by my leadership, I executed all communications, PR, social media, events, and content creation, among other things. I also used CRM and “big data” advertising analysis data to recommend a digital marketing strategy. The ultimate goal was to convert the online and community “audience” into showroom traffic and new customers, as well as maintain/strengthen relationships with current customers.
